VI. Cookies and Similar Technologies
As is common with modern websites, we collect information using automatic data collection technologies, like cookies and tracking pixels. The information generated by the cookies about your use of the website includes your IP address. You may be able to restrict the collection of personal data through your device’s operating system or by turning off cookies in the preferences settings on your browser, but doing so may prevent you from using the functionality of the website.

VIII. U.S. Consumer Privacy Rights
Depending on your state of residence, you may have specific legal rights regarding your personal information. This section describes those rights and explains how to exercise them.
- Know and Access: Residents of certain states may have the right to confirm whether we are processing their personal data and to request access to their personal data.
- Correction: Residents of certain states may have the right to request that we correct their personal data if that information is inaccurate, taking into account the nature of the personal data and the purposes of our processing of the personal data.
- Deletion: Residents of certain states may have the right to request that we delete personal data they have provided or that we have obtained about them.
- Portability: Residents of certain states may have the right to obtain a copy of personal data that they previously provided to us in a portable and, to the extent technically feasible, readily useable format that allows them to easily transmit the data to another controller, subject to certain exceptions.
- Non-Discrimination: Residents of certain states may have the right to not be discriminated against for exercising their privacy rights.
How to Submit a Request
Residents of states that provide for the rights listed above can exercise their privacy rights by submitting a request to us through the queries function on our website home page at https://academia-aeternal.org/home or by emailing us at privacy@academia-aeterna.org. You are not required to create a new account to exercise your rights.
Verifying Requests
To help protect the privacy of individuals requesting to exercise their privacy rights (“Requestors”) and maintain security, we will take commercially reasonable steps to verify the Requestor’s identity before granting access to their personal data or complying with their request. For example, we may require the Requestor sign a declaration under penalty of perjury that they are the individual whose personal data is the subject of the request and provide appropriate proof of identity. For requests about a child under the age of 13, we accept requests for information regarding minors under the age of 13 if we can determine that such requests were submitted by a parent or guardian.
Authorized agents may initiate a request using the same methods described above. Authorized agents will be required to provide proof of their authorization, and we may also require that the relevant individual on whose behalf the authorized agent is attempting to exercise the privacy right directly verify their identity and the authority of the authorized agent. Such individuals may also provide us with a signed and dated power of attorney naming the authorized agent as their representative.
Responding to Requests
Generally, we will respond to a request within 45 days of receipt. If we need more time to respond, we will provide the Requestor with notice and an explanation of the reason we need more time to respond. We may deny the request if we cannot verify the Requestor’s identity using commercially reasonable means or if we are legally permitted to deny the request.
If we deny the request we will, within 45 days of receipt of the request, explain the basis for our denial. To the extent permitted by applicable law, we may decline or charge a reasonable fee to comply with a request if the request is manifestly unfounded, excessive, or repetitive. If we decline to take action in response to an individual’s request to exercise their privacy rights, they may appeal our denial by contacting us at https//academia-aeterna.org/home or emailing us at privacy@academia-aeterna.org. If we deny an appeal, the Requestor may have the right to complain to their state’s attorney general. For example, residents of Texas or Nebraska may submit complaints to their state’s attorney general using the online complaint mechanisms on the relevant attorney general’s website.
